Wider, story-telling version of the prep process — the founder at the workbench, full workspace visible, gritty and authentic. Different shot from the homepage. Natural light, real environment. This is the proof behind the origin story, so make it feel personal and unstaged.
It started at Tennyson High School. I was a football player — same as a million other kids — and I bought myself a brand-new Wilson Omega. Fresh off the shelf, straight from the box. And I hated how it felt.
Slick. Plastic. Lifeless. Nothing like the footballs I'd seen on Sundays. So I started digging. Turns out NFL equipment managers spend hours — sometimes days — prepping every single football before a game. Brushing, conditioning, tacking, beating them in until they feel like an extension of the quarterback's hand.
Nobody was going to teach me how to do that. So I taught myself. From scratch. Trial, error, ruined footballs, late nights at the workbench. I broke down every step the pros use and rebuilt it into a process anyone could follow.
That's how First Down Football Prep was born. Not in a boardroom. Not from a marketing deck. From a kid who refused to throw a slick ball — and built the kit he wished he had.
If you're serious about the game, you're in the right place.
